Summertime Memories

What an amazing summer we enjoyed. We were encouraged to take a summer to regroup after a long year of health issues. Having time with our family and connecting with others was what we needed.
We enjoyed times with cousins, aunts and uncles and of course the grandparents. While in Iowa, we escaped to the Ozarks with Tim's family. It has become a tradition of sorts as Tim's sister has a place on the lake. Hannah has already sayed that she can't wait to go back to "Noah's Ark" to play in the water and ride in the boat.It was special to have time to connect with each of Tim's sisters and brother and his parents. It meant so much to be able to share in a few weeks of their lives face to face.

One highlight for MaKayla and Nathaniel was going to Riverside Bible Camp. Their comments..."I loved the Bible time everyday. We went off by ourselves for an hour and talked with God. I want to do this at home too." (MaKayla) ..."I thought the 2-0-2 time was the best. At 2:02 everyday they made a big noise all across camp and we all had to stop and pray for 2 minutes." (Nathaniel) Being able to spend a week around other children their own age that love Jesus was special to them. Here in Spain they often feel all alone as Christians.

Lots of fun memories were made with Grandma and Grandpa through shopping trips, birthday parties, working on the farm, having pet cats for a few weeks, and so much more. The kids are still talking about their Iowa adventures.

Tim and I were able to get away for a few days to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. Wow!! Has it really been that many years. We enjoyed the mountains of New Hampshire and the kids enjoyed time with Auntie Jan and Uncle Rich.

As always our time in Iowa includes farm time. It was fun to see Tim and Nathaniel get so excited about waking up at 5:00 am to go sell cattle. As a city girl I still can't figure that one out.

At the beginning of August, we celebrated my parents 50th Wedding anniversary. How special it was to be all together, the whole family, for 5 days to celebrated my parents faithfulness to each other. We ate a lot, we talked a lot, we laughed and laughed, and we learned things we never knew about mom and dad's love story.

Overall, the summer was spent resting, catching up with family and enjoying time with each other. We are so thankful to my sister Jan and her husband and MarshCorner Community Church for helping us find a place of our own while we were in Boston.

We have returned to Spain feeling like we have recieved an injection of energy, health, and love. God knew that we needed a summer to disconnect. We see how important it was for the health of our family.

  1. Oh my goodness I love your blog. I especially love the photo of Nathaniel in the tractor--with his John Deere t-shirt. He looks like a farm boy, which is a good thing. Keep on updating your blog because Catie and I loved looking through it! God Bless.
