Philippians 4:8 was the theme verse for this years VeggieTale week. You could hear the kids singing the words of this verse in the form of a rap as you entered the park behind the church. By the end of the week I am sure that even the parents had the Phillipians 4:8 rap imbeded in their memories. It was exciting to watch from 40 to 60 children gather around each night to learn Bible stories, do crafts, play games, and learn songs.
This year, we were thrilled to watch over 20 church members get involved in the fun. From planning the week to helping with set up and take down, we watched the church come together to see the week happen.
Nathaniel worked with Tim coming up with fun games for the groups to play. Tim said that he couldn't believe how many great ideas Nathaniel had.
Hannah was a leader of one of the three groups that would rotate through the different activities. Each night she would come home and share a story about one of the children in her group. To watch her desire to see the kids in her group come closer to knowing Jesus was exciting.
MaKayla helped out at the craft station. She loves crafts and so was excited to be able to help out the kids. She seemed to also run here and there doing the odd jobs that needed to be done before and after the program.
Each year Marisa, a member of the church, writes skits having to do with the theme of the day for the clowns to perform. The kids love the "clown" time. Can you figure out who Marisa convinced to help her out? I don't think that I will be changing occupations anytime soon.
On Thursday we served the parents and children pizza inside the church. This is always a big step for the Spaniards to take. They have not been inside of an evangelical church and are scared that we will preach at them. This year over 60 people ate pizza with us.
Please continue to pray for the people who live in our neighborhood. We are planning movie nights and Saturday children activities. Our first Saturday VeggieTale activity will be October 3. We can't wait to see what God has in store.
How exciting to read about your Veggie event; what a great launch into your Saturday events,
ReplyDeleteThe walls will continue to fall and the parent's eventually will not be able to resist the fruit exhibited their children and all of you who are running the events.
Blessings!
